We Are Family proposes lowering quorum for referendums

The opposition We Are Family party has proposed lowering the quorum for referendums from 50 to 30 percent of all valid votes via an amendment to the constitution. The party will present the amendment at the next parliamentary session. Drafts of constitutional amendments need to obtain at least 90 votes from MPs in order to pass, meaning that agreement between the opposition and the ruling coalition would be required in this case.
