US offers funds for Slovakia airbase modernisation

The United States has offered 46 million dollars (37 million euros) funding for the modernisation of the Sliac (Banska Bystrica region) and Kuchyna (Bratislava region) airbases, defence ministry spokesperson Danka Capakova said on Thursday. Support comes within the framework of the European Deterrence Initiative (EDI), aimed at supporting the development of defence capabilities, mainly in the NATO countries known as the eastern wing.
