As decisions on the population mix affect the identity of a country, they should be sovereign ones, Justice Minister Laszlo Trocsanyi said at an international conference on constitutional identity held in Poland. The conference was attended by Prime Minister of Poland Mateusz Morawiecki, Marshal of the Sejm Marek Kuchcinski, Foreign Minister Jacek Czaputowicz and Justice Minister Zbigniew Ziobro, and was opened by President of the Constitutional Tribunal Julia Przylebska. Trocsanyi told MTI that constitutional identity is an increasingly important subject in Europe as the idea of "tighter European Union" implies "depriving member states of powers". The minister stressed the need to define the areas where EU member states have sovereign powers that cannot be transferred to the EU.
