Jana Zemkova, the chairwoman of the senate of the Supreme Court that ruled against dissolving the far-right People's Party Our Slovakia, stressed on Monday that the senate had assessed individual pieces of evidence filed by the prosecutor-general's office. In regards to arguments that the party has put democracy in jeopardy via its statements and expressions, Zemkova said the most important element was immediacy. She concluded that the risk posed by the party was not sufficiently immediate, as LSNS did not have enough MPs to pass laws that could endanger democracy. Zemkova added that the arguments of the PG's office based on current criminal proceedings involving party head Marian Kotleba and two LSNS MPs could not be viewed as aggravating circumstances. She noted that presumption of innocence applies until the proceedings are completed.
