The three-month moving average of the Economic Sentiment Indicator (ESI) fell by 14.1 points month-on-month in April to 83.8 points, the lowest figure to be posted since October 2009, the Statistics Office reported on Wednesday. Confidence recorded significant falls in all monitored sectors of the economy as well as among consumers, with the most significant fall being reported in services, followed by construction, industry, consumers and trade. The current ESI lags behind the long-term average by 19.5 points and by 13.2 points in year-on-year terms.
