The state secretary for church and national minority relations welcomed Ukrainian children visiting Hungary as part of a trip organised by the Ukrainian national minority in Parliament on Wednesday. Since 2015, the government has financed camps at Lake Velence for 2,300 Ukrainian children whose fathers were injured or died in the eastern Ukraine conflict, Miklos Soltesz told a press conference. Next year, some 600 children will get the same opportunity, he added. Over the past few years, Hungary also provided other forms of help to Ukraine, such as transferring 11 billion cubic metres of gas via Hungary since 2015 and curing and rehabilitating Ukrainian soldiers in Hungary, he said.
