The Slovak government has approved an extraordinary contribution to the EU Emergency Trust Fund for Africa aimed at tackling causes of illegal migration and improving living standards in the countries of migrants' origin or transit. Slovakia will increase its contribution by 1 million euros, with the assistance due to be directed to northern Africa, particularly Libya. The EU has calculated that the Trust Fund is lacking some 110 million euros for current projects in 2017 and 230 million for 2018.
