EU countries should act jointly against the imminent threat of a Russian propaganda and information war, Slovak President Andrej Kiska said in his speech at a plenary session of the European Parliament in Strasbourg on Wednesday. "It would be shame to let the European project fail because of our inability to halt the dissemination of hoaxes and fake news," said Kiska. The Slovak president pointed out that such propaganda has an impact on people's everyday lives, spreading chaos, weakening European stability and undermining people's trust in institutions. He praised the fact that the EP last year passed a resolution on Russian propaganda, claiming that this was "a courageous and very necessary first step".
