EU-harmonised inflation in Slovakia stood at 2.7 percent year-on-year in May, the Slovak Statistics Office said on Friday. Meanwhile, the average harmonised inflation rate for the 12-month period ending in May 2018 amounted to 2.1 percent. As for monthly developments in May, the index of consumer prices was mainly influenced by the following increases: furniture, household equipment and regular household maintenance - by 0.02 percentage points (p.p.); clothing and footwear - by 0.02 p.p.; miscellaneous goods and services - by 0.02 p.p.; housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels - by 0.01 p.p.; and restaurants and hotels - by 0.01 p.p. Conversely, downward pressure on prices month-on-month was exerted by the following categories: food products and non-alcoholic beverages - by 0.03 p.p.; and transport - by 0.04 p.p.
