A new 8-percent tax on non-life insurance policies will be introduced as of October 1 to replace an existing 8-percent levy currently paid by insurance companies, according to a bill approved by the government on Friday. The Finance Ministry explained that the current levy is a non-systemic and relatively ineffective measure that results in problems in application with insurers, which will also be the payers of the new tax. Insurers' clients should not be affected by the change, the ministry added.
