Slovak culture minister resigns after journalist's murder

February 28th, 2018

Culture Minister Marek Madaric on Wednesday announced his resignation in reaction to the recent murder of investigative journalist Jan Kuciak and his fiancée. Madaric said it was his personal decision, and added that his ministry was the governmental body closest to the media. "Following the journalist's murder I cannot imagine continuing in the post," said Madaric, adding that he would return to parliament as an ordinary Smer-SD member.
