Slovak consumer prices up 2.6 pc in July

Consumer prices in Slovakia increased by 2.6 percent year-on-year in July, the Slovak Statistics Office announced on Tuesday. Prices increased y-o-y in the following categories in July: in transport - 6.7 percent; in food and non-alcoholic beverages - 3.6 percent; in restaurants and hotels - 3.5 percent; in recreation and culture - 2.2 percent; in healthcare - 2.1 percent; in housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels and in miscellaneous goods and services - 2 percent each; in alcoholic beverages and tobacco - 1.6 percent; in furniture, housing accessories and maintenance - 1.5 percent; in footwear and clothing - 1.4 percent; and in education - 0.9 percent. Prices dropped y-o-y only in postal and telecommunications services - by 2 percent. Meanwhile, consumer prices went down by 0.1 percent month-on-month in July.
