Scientists have called on Prime Minister Eduard Heger to apologise on behalf of the government for "inappropriate and unacceptable statements" by Finance Minister Igor Matovic about Slovak scientists and scientific institutions that have "besmirched their dignity and Slovakia's good name", an initiative called Science Helps-Covid-19 said on Monday. The initiative asked Heger in an open letter for public protection for scientists, who, as a result of Matovic's actions, have become the "target of hate-filled, aggressive and even life-threatening" comments.
