Saxony premier wants to keep border open for Czech commuters

January 15th, 2021

Saxony Minister-President Michael Kretschmer does not want to close the border with the Czech Republic even in the current dramatic epidemic situation and his government is negotiating with the German government about possible exceptions for Czech and Polish commuters. "It is generally known that we could hardly maintain our health care without Czech doctors, caregivers and nurses," Kretschmer told CTK on Friday on the sidelines of the election congress of the German governing Christian Democratic Union (CDU).
