SaS: EU top job picks ignore regional balance

The opposition Freedom and Solidarity (SaS) party says the nominations for the posts of European Council head, high representative of the Union for foreign affairs and European Central Bank chief approved on Tuesday do not take the need for regional balance into account, as there is not a single representative of new EU-member countries among them. "The result of this pan-European 'compromise', which [Slovak] Prime Minister Peter Pellegrini also signed, is that the perception of 'us and them, old versus new and East versus West' concepts will grow even deeper roots in Slovakia as well," said SaS MP Martin Klus.
