Swedish company Saab delivered a proposal to the Slovak Defence Ministry last year for the construction of a logistics Gripen Support Centre in Slovakia, Gripen said on Monday in response to Defence Minister Peter Gajdos, who had told public radio RTVS on Saturday that the ministry had not received such a bid. The Swedish fighter aircraft maker said in a statement it was aware that during the Slovak radio programme, Gajdos said that he had received no offer from the Kingdom of Sweden concerning Saab's proposal for constructing a Gripen Support Centre in Slovakia and the associated creation of five hundred jobs, if Slovakia decides to select Gripen aircraft for its air force. "The fact is that on October 26, 2017, Saab's proposal for the construction of the Gripen Support Centre was officially delivered to the Slovak Defence Ministry in person," director of Saab's Market Area Europe Magnus Lewis-Olsson said in a statement. He said the draft had been delivered along with accompanying letters from Marcus Wallenberg and Hakan Buskhe, Saab's President and Chief Executive Officer.
