Rare western tree hyrax born in Czech zoo as world's first

The world's first young of the rare western tree hyrax was born in captivity in the Ostrava zoo on February 18, zoo spokeswoman Sarka Novakova told CTK. The Ostrava zoo is the only place outside Africa, where tree hyraxes have their habitat, where people can see this mammal. No other zoo is breeding it, Novakova said. Moreover, the Ostrava zoo is the only one to breed even the eastern tree hyrax.
