Hungarian railway company MAV won a lawsuit for damages against alumina firm MAL Zrt, the company owning the reservoir which burst in 2010 and flood railway lines and nearby villages with toxic sludge, the Budapest Court of Justice said on Wednesday. The company is to pay over 396 million forints (EUR 1,3m) for the damages caused to the railways between Ajka and Devecser in western Hungary, and 12,5 million forints in legal costs, the court ruled.
