President to meet Senate speaker to discuss referendum questions - aide

June 14th, 2018

The president will meet the Senate speaker before he has filed his constitutional referendum motion with the upper house of Parliament, Presidential aide Paweł Mucha told PAP on Thursday. "President Andrzej Duda will certainly meet the Senate speaker before he has filed his constitutional referendum motion with the upper house of Parliament. We do not want to take the Senate speaker by surprise," Mucha, the commissioner for the referendum, said. Fifteen questions that could appear in the referendum were presented on Tuesday. No more than ten questions will be presented in the popular vote. Duda has not yet decided when to file his constitutional referendum motion with the upper house of Parliament, he said. The president must file the motion with the Senate between July 23 and Sept. 10.
