Poll: Slovaks prefer beer to wine

According to a poll carried out on behalf of the Slovak Association of Beer and Malt Producers, more than a third of Slovaks (38 percent of the respondents) consider themselves to be beer aficionados, whereas only 26 percent are wine-lovers. The poll showed that Slovaks most of all choose classic alcoholic beer, with at least 72 percent drinking it at least once per week. The figure for men is 86 percent, while in the case of women it's 58 percent. Tapped beer and approximately 4-percent light beer are both popular among 44 percent of Slovaks.
