Polish PM accepts agriculture minister's resignation

June 18th, 2018

Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki has accepted the resignation of Agriculture Minister Krzysztof Jurgiel, government spokesperson Joanna Kopcinska said on Monday. Jurgiel tendered his resignation citing personal reasons, according to a statement published by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. Kopcinska said a new agriculture minister "will be presented soon", possibly this week. Kopcinska praised the outgoing minister, saying he had done a lot to help farmers. Krzysztof Jurgiel held his post from November 2015, when the conservative Law and Justice (PiS) government was formed under PM Beata Szydło. He continued as farm minister after the Morawiecki government was sworn in.
