The Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) is trying to develop mechanisms allowing it to interfere with the internal affairs of EU member states, Polish Justice Minister Zbigniew Ziobro said in an interview with the weekly Gazeta Polska on Wednesday. European Commission Vice President Frans Timmermans is carrying out similar actions, said Ziobro, who is also Poland's prosecutor general. The interference is being applied to "EU countries that the biggest players consider less important," Ziobro added. The minister said such measures were "very dangerous", arguing that they may not be limited to the justice system and could in the future also affect areas such as the economy or defence. Ziobro argued that the CJEU had no competence to assess the organisation of the systems of justice of EU member states.
