Polish consumer sentiment up in August

August 23rd, 2018

Poland's consumer sentiment improved in August from its July level in terms of current situation and stayed flat in terms of predictions for the future, the Central Statistical Office (GUS) announced on Thursday. The indicator of current consumer confidence (BWUK), designed to show trends in individual consumption, stood at 6.2 points in August, up by 1.0 pp from July. Year on year, the BWUK rose by 0.5 pps in August. "A bigger growth month on month was seen in four of the index's components, with the biggest increase recorded in the assessment of the ability to make major purchases and of the current financial situation of households (up by 3.9 and 1.9 pps, respectively)," GUS wrote.
