Polish commissioner candidate says ready for von der Leyen talks

Krzysztof Szczerski, Poland's official candidate for an EU commissioner, has said he is ready for talks with European Commission president-elect, Ursula von der Leyen. Szczerski expects the conversation will focus on an EU policy section ascribed to Poland. According to PAP's sources, von der Leyen is to launch talks with candidates for members of the EU's executive arm, the European Commission, on Tuesday. EU member states have until Monday to present their candidates to the president-elect. Szczerski, who is currently chief aide to Polish President Andrzej Duda, said he expected the conversation to "clear up the issue of the scope of European policy that will become Poland's responsibility."
