The Polish government will not support the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration (GCM), the Council of Ministers decided on Tuesday. The government decided that Poland would not support this agreement either at the United Nations conference to adopt the compact to be held in Marrakech on December 10-11 or during the subsequent vote at the UN General Assembly. According to the statement from the Government Information Centre (CIR), "the document has not met Poland's demands regarding the confirmation of adequately strong guarantees of the sovereign right to decide who the countries accept in their territory and the distinction between legal and illegal migration".
