The Polish PM, Mateusz Morawiecki, said on Monday that Poland wanted to introduce a digital tax together with other EU countries, but stressed that "EU members will be forced to decide by themselves if there is no consensus" on the matter. PM Morawiecki made the statement when asked during a press conference whether the ruling Law and Justice (PiS) had any proposals to put forward in terms of a digital tax. The prime minister said he had often discussed the digital tax with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, French President Emmanuel Macron and other EU leaders. He added Austria was likely to introduce such a tax despite a lack of consensus on the EU level. "Poland wants to introduce a digital tax together with other EU countries, but the Austrian example shows that EU members will be forced to decide by themselves if there is no consensus," he emphasised.
