Poland's ruling Law and Justice (PiS) party backed President Andrzej Duda's Tuesday decision to sign into law a bill amending the so called anti-defamation law. PiS spokesperson Beata Mazurek said the president had made the right decision, adding that all doubts would be reviewed by the Constitutional Tribunal. "We are not closing the debate, we have the right to historical truth," said the spokesperson. According to Pawel Kukiz, leader of the Kukiz '15 parliamentary grouping, by announcing today's decision the president has cut future deliberation on the matter. He added that sending the law to the Tribunal was proof of Poland's openness to a variety of further debates.
