Every fifth Polish civil servant may lose their job in connection with a planned government reshuffle, the daily Dziennik Gazeta Prawna (DGP) said on Monday, citing a source close to the ruling party. A government reshuffle, expected in September or at the latest in October, envisages a reduction in the ministries, mostly by half, to 12 in a drive to cut red tape. This is also a result of lessons learned during the pandemic with numerous employees locked out, the daily added. "It turned out that it is possible to administer the state, even in a crisis, with half of the people in place," a government insider told DGP.
