Poland's energy ministry wants to cap gas import from single source at 33 pc

April 4th, 2018

Poland's Energy Minister Krzysztof Tchorzewski said on Wednesday that the country's gas supplies should be diversified so that by 2023, no more than 33 percent of imports come from one source. Addressing the Europower conference, Tchorzewski said the key to the country's energy security is to "diversify the directions, sources and suppliers, not just of energy, but also gas and oil". With that in mind, the government is seeking to make Poland independent of supplies from the east, currently the source of 70 percent of imports, some 10 billion cubic metres.
