The conclusions reached at the two-day EU summit in Brussels pose good news for the Schengen area, as the pressure to shut down internal EU borders on a national basis has dissipated, Prime Minister Peter Pellegrini said in Brussels on Friday. The prime minister underlined that the summit conclusions are focused primarily on protecting the EU's external borders and the intention to create disembarking platforms in third countries for migrants wishing to reach Europe. The European Commission wants to explore the option to create these platforms and build them in cooperation with UNHCR and the International Organisation for Migration (IOM).
