Opposition wants to debate constitutional lawsuit against Zeman

August 15th, 2019

An extraordinary session of the Chamber of Deputies should be called to debate a constitutional lawsuit against President Milos Zeman if PM Andrej Babis does not act over the affair of culture minister by the end of the week, Marian Jurecka, a Christian Democrats lawmaker, said today. Zeman announced on Wednesday that he would not comply with Babis' proposal to name Michal Smarda (Social Democrats, CSSD) as the new culture minister. Zeman's conduct in the replacement of the culture minister is one of the points of the proposal to file a constitutional lawsuit against Zeman, passed by the Senate in July.
