Older Slovaks face a lower risk of poverty or social exclusion (12.3 percent) than the EU average, the 2018 Pensions Adequacy Report released by the European Commission on Monday shows. The commission said that Slovakia introduced the minimum pension in 2015 and the method of indexing pensions was modified too. The EC expects that the pensions' adequacy will remain stable in the long run. The report says that today, there are 1.9 million fewer older Europeans at risk of poverty or social exclusion than a decade ago, while the number of older workers in employment has increased by 4.1 million in the last three years alone. Despite these improvements in the situation of Europe's pensioners, there is no room for complacency, the report underlines.
