Hungary has succeeded in flattening the curve of novel coronavirus infections thanks to its "disciplined" response to the epidemic, a government official said on Thursday. The public has for the most part complied with the restrictions imposed by the government, Ors Farkas, a spokesman of the Government Information Centre, told public news channel M1. He added, however, that discipline had begun to wane in and near the capital last weekend. Because the outbreak in Hungary began later than in other European Union countries, Hungary had time to implement the necessary restrictions to limit personal interactions, Farkas said. As a result, the number of confirmed cases per 100,000 people has remained low in international comparison, he added.
