Number of foreigners with valid permits grows to 400,000 - official

The number of foreigners with valid long-term residency permits in Poland has risen to 400,000, almost half of them citizens of Ukraine, the Office for Foreigners has informed PAP. According to the office's data, the number of foreigners holding residency permits has grown by 10,000 over the last two years. Most foreigners come to Poland in search of work. "In the top 10 most commonly represented countries of origin are currently: Ukraine - 199,000 people; Belarus - 23,000; Germany - 21,300; Russia - 12,200; Vietnam - 12,100; India - 9,600; China - 8,700; Italy - 8,400; Great Britain - 6,000, and Spain - 5,800," press officer Jakub Dudziak told PAP.
