National Land Centre to help boost farming sector's competitiveness, says minister

July 8th, 2019

The newly established National Land Centre (NFK) will help improve the competitiveness of Hungary's agriculture sector as well as the transparency of the sector's development, Istvan Nagy, the farm minister, told a press conference on Monday. The NFK, which started operating on July 1, replacing the National Land Fund Managing Organisation, is in charge of managerial tasks required for agricultural administration. It operates an asset registry system belonging to the National Land Fund and holds the ownership rights of lands belonging to the fund. The NFK will be tasked with overseeing the government's Land for Farmers scheme involving the sale of farmland to local farmers as well as resolving the issue of plots in collective ownership, Nagy said.
