According to the the Most-Hid party, if suspicions of Slovakia's participation in the kidnapping of a Vietnamese citizen were to be confirmed, it would mean rather serious complications for the country in terms of international relations. Most-Hid spokesperson Klara Debnar called on the authorities to "investigate the case successfully and find out whether any misconduct, misuse or crime was committed." Debnar was responding to news from Germany that the investigators dealing with the kidnapping case of Vietnamese businessman Trinh Xuan Thanh from Berlin to his home country are quite sure that the victim of the abduction left the Schengen area and was returned to his home country on board a Slovak government aircraft.
