In 2018, Poland will reduce the tax gap by 0.5 percent of GDP thanks to tax system tightening. This will add 10 billion zlotys (EUR 23.6bn) to the budget, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Development and Finance Mateusz Morawiecki told a press conference on Wednesday. "This year we will close the tax gap by some 0.7-0.8 percent of GDP according to the European Commission and consulting firms, but in my opinion by about 1 percent of GDP, that is, by 20 billion zlotys," Morawiecki said. "I can see room for lowering this gap by another 0.5 percent of GDP next year," the deputy PM said.
