Ministry allows shooting bears in High Tatras

Slovak Environment Minister Jan Budaj has permitted the killing of bears in cases where a respective expert commission identifies particular individuals that have become dangerous to humans. "The ministry under my lead will in no way prevent the population from being protected against bears. Bears that are no longer able to live in their natural habitat are too high a risk, said Budaj during his visit to the town of Vysoke Tatry (Presov region) on Sunday.
