Mayor marks 50th anniversary of Budapest transport company

Budapest Mayor Istvan Tarlos on Monday attended a celebration marking the 50th anniversary of the city's public transport company BKV. In his address at the event, Tarlos highlighted the importance of BKV and called it a "complex, gigantic system" of several hundred trams, over 1,000 buses and 150 trolleybuses operated by 10,000 people. He added that the system can safely transport over 100,000 people at any time.
