Lubyova: 2019 saw pay hike for teachers, more legal protection

December 27th, 2019

Teachers' salaries were increased by 10 percent as of January 1, 2019, and they'll rise by another 10 percent as of January 1, 2020, while 12-percent bonuses for teachers' lifetime education have also been preserved, Education, Science, Research and Sport Minister Martina Lubyova (Slovak National Party/SNS) has told TASR. Meanwhile, salaries of staff in research and science have also been increased this year to bring them level with those of their peers at universities, noted Lubyova.
