Lajcak submits resignation to president, notifies premier

November 30th, 2018

Foreign and European Affairs Minister Miroslav Lajcak submitted his resignation to President Andrej Kiska on Friday and officially informed Prime Minister Peter Pellegrini about his departure, the foreign ministry's press department said. Lajcak chose to resign over Thursday's parliamentary resolution to reject the UN Global Compact on Migration. The government is also slated to adopt a disapproving stance on the document and approve measures to withdraw Slovakia from the process of passing the document at a conference scheduled to take place in Morocco in December 10-11.
