Kazakhstan is currently undergoing a quite unique and rare period of a controlled transition of power in an intensely centralised system, Foreign and European Affairs Minister Miroslav Lajcak told a press conference marking the end of his two-day visit to Nur-Sultan on Monday. The purpose of Lajcak's visit in the role of incumbent OSCE chair was to familiarise himself with the situation in Kazakhstan and the local OSCE mission. Lajcak underlined that the OSCE does not treat Kazakhstan as a crisis region. "We're here as a partner. OSCE is developing a whole slew of programmes and helps with reforms, for instance, the reform of the judiciary and police," he said.
