Krajniak: Economic 'first aid' saved 500,000 jobs from coronavirus

August 14th, 2020

Labour Minister Milan Krajniak (We Are Family), speaking at a press conference on Friday, said that the situation on the labour market seems better than forecast earlier, ascribing the improvement to the so-called 'first aid' to businesses aimed at preserving jobs threatened by the coronavirus. The first aid has saved more than 500,000 jobs, stated Krajniak. The overall unemployment rate in the second quarter of 2020 fell by 2.6 percent year-on-year, according to the Statistics Office. After seasonal adjustments, it was down by 2.3 percent year-on-year, and by 1.1 percent quarter-on-quarter.
