Judicial independence is not absolute nor can it be self-serving, Speaker of Parliament Laszlo Kover told a conference marking the 150th anniversary of the adoption of Hungary's law guaranteeing judicial independence, in Parliament on Wednesday. Judges can be neither independent from the state nor "appendages" of it, Kover said.
