Gergely Karacsony, PM candidate of the Socialist-Parbeszed alliance, on Friday compared Hungary's current election campaign to the period of Hungary's transition to democracy in 1989. "This election brings back the spirit of 1989," Karacsony said after talks with Udo Bullmann, group leader of the Socialists and Democrats in the European Parliament. He argued that Hungary back then, too, was "in search of a new future after having torn down an autocracy".
