Hungary tax authority to go paperless by 2021

June 15th, 2018

Hungary's National Tax and Customs Authority (NAV) will become a paperless institution by 2021, Finance Minister Mihaly Varga said at the office's board meeting on Friday. NAV's electronic services are becoming more and more widespread, indicating that taxpayers are onboard with making the office completely paperless within a few years, the finance ministry quoted Varga as saying at the meeting where he introduced Laszlo Sors, the new head of the authority. The move to have NAV prepare all corporate tax returns by 2021 will halve the administrative burdens on businesses, the minister said, adding that the authority would offer a growing number of services over the coming years.
