Addressing the European Parliament's Intergroup of Traditional Minorities in Strasbourg on Thursday, Kinga Gal, an MEP of Hungary's ruling Fidesz party, complained that Ukraine's recently adopted education law banning post-primary-level education in minority languages was unconstitutional and infracted various international laws and treaties. The right of a minority to use its own language is a fundamental criterion for preserving its identity and culture. Restricting this right will ultimately endanger the existence of the minority in question, Gal told the meeting.
