Hungary govt to fund museum on site of former internment camp

September 5th, 2017

The government is allocating 500 million forints for building a museum and library on the site of a former internment camp in Kistarcsa, near Budapest, a ministry of human resources official said on Tuesday. The site of a defunct factory in the centre of town was used as an internment camp from the late 1930s to 1960. The memorial site, to be completed by autumn 2018, is being built as part of the Gulag memorial year.
