If Hungary's leftist parties win the general election on Sunday, they should start coalition talks as early as the day after, the leader of the Democratic Coalition (DK) said on Thursday. But if they are only able to secure a majority with radical nationalist Jobbik, they should form a technocratic government and call a new election in a year's time, Ferenc Gyurcsany said. If the left-wing parties are able to secure a majority on their own and start coalition talks on Monday, the talks should be headed by the party that wins the most parliamentary seats from the votes cast for national lists, he said. At those talks, the parties should agree on the prime minister as well as the government's programme and composition, he said. But if the leftist parties set up a technocratic government together with Jobbik, they should choose a PM unaffiliated with any of the parties, he added.
