Gulyas urges closer ties between Fidesz, CDU

Closer cooperation is needed between Hungary's ruling Fidesz and the German CDU party, Gergely Gulyas, the head of the Hungarian Prime Minister's Office, said in Berlin on Thursday. "There are significant differences between the two countries and the two parties have had disputes but there are far more areas where we see eye to eye, and where cooperation is a must in the interest of Europe," Gulyas said. It was a shared interest between Fidesz, CDU and Germany's CSU party, that the European People's Party, of which all three are members, should stay Europe's strongest party, he said.
